My 2025 Happiness Project
After facing many losses and feeling completely disconnected from myself, I decided to start a Happiness Project—a year-long journey to rediscover joy, fulfillment, and what truly makes me happy.
Each month, I choose a new theme to focus on, and for each theme, I set a monthly, weekly, and daily habit to help guide me.
These are small, simple habits that support me on my journey to accept what I cannot change, while being kind to myself as I grieve and heal—without adding stress or pressure.
** This project is inspired by Lifebook from Jon & Missy, and the book from Gretchen Rubin.
Want to join me and other childless-not-by-choice women?
Step 1: Define Your Purpose
Start by reflecting on why you want to join. Ask yourself:
- What areas of my life feel disconnected or unfulfilled?
- What does happiness mean to me right now?
Write down a few sentences about your purpose to keep you motivated throughout the year.
Step 2: Stick to the Monthly Theme
I’ve chosen 12 themes that are broad enough to find your own way with it, but specific enough so that we all are focused on the same thing throughout the year. These are the themes we’ll be following in 2025:
- January: Physical Well-Being
- February: Intellectual Growth
- March: Emotional Well-being
- April: Adventure & Exploration
- May: Spirituality & Inner Peace
- June: Relationships & Connection
- July: Creativity & Expression
- August: Financial Wellness
- September: Career & Opportunities
- October: Physical Environment
- November: Contribution
- December: Reflection & Celebration
On the first day of each month, you’re going to set small, actionable habits that align with your focus. Keep it simple and achievable to avoid overwhelm.
Monthly Habit: Choose one big thing related to the theme.
- Example: For Physical Well-Being, commit to doing a 90-minute massage.
Weekly Habit: Set a recurring weekly action.
- Example: Meal prep healthy recipes every Sunday.
Daily Habit: Identify one small step you can take daily.
- Example: Drink 2 liters of water each day.
Step 4: Track and Reflect
- How are these habits making me feel?
- What’s working, and what isn’t?
- Am I being kind to myself as I go?
Celebrate small wins, and if something isn’t working, adjust without judgment. This Happiness Project is about healing and growth, not perfection.
Remember:
- It’s okay to miss a habit or have a tough day.
- Your journey is uniquely yours—progress matters more than perfection.
